| Meet Sarah, David, Ben & Rachel | ||||||||
|
Sarah is a seventh grader who attends middle school. Her favorite subjects are history and art. After school, you’ll either find her dancing her heart out in jazz and ballet classes, talking up a storm with her girlfriends, or in Hebrew school. Even though she complains now and then, she thinks it’s cool to stay in Hebrew school. Sarah is super excited about her Bat Mitzvah. She’s convinced she might be tone deaf…but if you were to actually hear her sing, you’d be telling her she has a pretty voice.
David is also a seventh grader who attends middle school. It’s his first year in a new school, and he’s feeling sophisticated. If he were allowed to pick gym and lunch as his favorite subjects, he would. But forced to answer this question more intellectually, he would tell you that math and language arts are on the top of his list. When not in school, David is likely to be playing basketball or soccer…or pounding on his drums. He also goes to Hebrew school and is planning to stay in Hebrew school even after his Bar Mitzvah. Except for periodic nervous moments, David is feeling confident about his Bar Mitzvah. He’s excited to start preparing and knows his Bar Mitzvah will be worth the hard work.
Ben is a third grader in elementary school. Ben loves to read. If reading were a subject, he would pick science fiction as his favorite. Ben just started taking guitar lessons. After school, if he’s not playing his guitar, he’s probably playing outside with his friends (usually touch football), or going to Hebrew school. Ben is almost done learning to read Hebrew. He looks forward to going to synagogue on Shabbat.
Rachel is also a third grader in elementary school. Her favorite subject is science. She likes creative writing too. She can dream up a story about anything. In her free time, when she’s not playing with her friends, she’s probably playing tennis or going to Hebrew school. Her favorite prayers are the shema and the v'shamru. She’s excited because her Hebrew reading keeps getting better. |
