We are using The Aleph Bet Story for the first time this year with our second graders. Through Sarah and David's use of color, storyline, and creative ways to teach the aleph-bet, our students have been turned on to learning Hebrew. They look forward to using the book each week in class, and I am happy because my students and their parents are happy. Thank you for producing a great Hebrew text book for young children and beginners! My name is Faye Holman and I am a second grade teacher at Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El Religious School in Plantation, Florida. Simona Sklash (Religious School Director) asked me to write you describing my experiences using The Aleph Bet Story in my classroom. My students love learning the letters, love reading the stories on each page, and love the characters. They are very excited when I tell them that we are going to practice our Hebrew letters using the book. I also write the letters on the board, showing the students how to form each letter correctly, and then let them practice the letters on lined primary paper. I feel that my students will be ready for third grade Hebrew classes after completing this book. Everyone loves it! Faye Holman I offered to write on behalf of The Aleph Bet Story because I so thoroughly enjoyed using this book to teach the Hebrew letters to my seven-year-old son. The two main characters, Sarah and David, are likable and charming as they guide children through the Hebrew alphabet. My personal favorite is the dialogue between Sarah and her friend Lily that introduces the letter Tet (which is the only letter that is open on top). Sarah asks Lily, “Why is there popcorn coming out of that letter Tet?” Lily responds, “Because Tet is open on top, and Tet can’t hold all the popcorn inside.” It’s refreshing to discover a brand new method for teaching the Hebrew alphabet. My son and I had a great deal of fun with this book, and I was astonished by how quickly he learned the alphabet. I highly recommend The Aleph Bet Story. Michael Ben-Avie, Ph.d I love the Sarah and David Hebrew reading system! I use The Aleph Bet Story to introduce and review the letters and Sarah, David and You Read Hebrew for reading and writing. It’s great that print and script are both integrated into the curriculum and introduced at the same time. The descriptions of the letters help my students to remember each letter and the letter’s sound. I have found The Sarah and David Hebrew reading system to be a thorough and engaging classroom tool! Melissa Hochberg Thank you so much for presenting the Sarah and David reading program to our teachers in Philadelphia. All who attended gained a greater understanding and appreciation of your curriculum. The program is very welcoming and gives the students "hints" as how to remember the sound of the letters and vowels. The website enrichment encourages and enables parents to coach the students at home. All the accompanying materials are clear, pleasing and encourage students to want to accomplish their reading goals - get a certificate- and proceed to the next step! Nancy M. Messinger Thank you so much for sending our copies of The Aleph Bet Story Workbook! My students are very excited for this workbook. They absolutely love The Aleph Bet Story. You guys are doing a fabulous job!!! Jamie S. Hendi I have mainly used your materials in the same way this year as last year. As I teach a new Hebrew letter to my Kindergarten students we read the corresponding page in The Aleph Bet Story. The children love seeing the letters, hearing the stories about them as well as the description of the letter's shape, etc. I have also played the CD for them at Relaxation Time and they have enjoyed it more and more as the year has progressed and their knowledge of the letters has increased. I looked at sample pages of The Aleph Bet Story Workbook which will be available this summer and they look great! My kids cannot forget the Aleph-Bet, if they had wanted to! Thanks so much! I wish that you would come out with a grammar series! Keep up the great work and I highly recommend you to others! Donna M. I have mainly used your materials in the same way this year as last year. As I teach a new Hebrew letter to my Kindergarten students we read the corresponding page in The Aleph Bet Story. The children love seeing the letters, hearing the stories about them as well as the description of the letter's shape, etc. I have also played the CD for them at Relaxation Time and they have enjoyed it more and more as the year has progressed and The Sarah and David series of Hebrew reading workbooks teach Hebrew reading with a fun approach. The reading materials are clear with large print letters and vowels. Each page is done so that the beginning reader is not overwhelmed. I bought the book for my grandchild and now I want one for myself. I CAN learn to read Hebrew. Gimel is like a high heel shoe. I know that one already! Gladys B. I’ve got the book and went over it and enjoyed it a lot. It is very child friendly and smart. I’m seriously considering ordering it for our 1st or 2nd graders for the next school year. You did a fabulous job….:) Simona Sklash Finally, an efficient way to review Hebrew reading over the summer. My students love it! Sagit M. The Aleph Bet Story is a wonderful tool for students who are beginning to learn the Hebrew letters or for anyone needing some extra help with a few letters. For children or adults, the book is a wonderful teaching tool; very creative, fun, and educational. Betsy J. S. Hubert “The detail and graphics and thought that went into this book are amazing. The book we used to use hadn’t changed in 50 years! Kids know the difference. They respond to the effort and are more motivated to learn.” Rebecca S. Two Jewish educators, Diana and Lily Yacobi, who are mother and daughter, have devised a way of making the basic steps in learning Hebrew both accessible and pleasant. They deserve the thanks of all older Jews for easing the way for the next generation into the sacred texts. Bravo for a job well done.” Rabbi Arthur Hertzberg My Hadassah chapter first bought 125 copies of The Aleph Bet Story for a fundraiser. We’ve almost sold out and want to buy another shipment when we do. We fell in love with this product and this new approach to learning the Hebrew alphabet. Kathy Fleming The book made learning the aleph bet a fun filled experience with my 4 year old son. He will never forget the high heeled Gimel and the Hey with a broken leg. The colorful and detailed pictures make this a book that holds any child's attention. Caron Serman Jacques (my youngest) and I had a wonderful time yesterday going through the book. We loved it! Well done! “Amazing… they’ve actually come up with a new way to teach Hebrew reading that works and is also fun” Myrna Gold The illustrations are wonderful! They are both whimsical and very clever, I particularly like the monkey with two tails that is used for "KOOF". The book will be amazingly effective in helping children (and adults) learn the Hebrew alphabet. Heather D. |
